Re-Theme Change

It is a truth seldom told…that a boy in search of something new will change themes at regular intervals until one of two things occur. A resignation that all that matters is the writing or a dissatisfaction with form as a distraction from content.

I managed to sort through my father’s remaining prints yesterday and made the decision to pass some of the working documents, exercises and trial prints to a school for cut up and re-use. My father Francis George Smith, 1933-2020 (Painter and Printmaker) might have approved. Although there is a nagging presence just to the back right hand side of my head projected out into the room like a camera from many angles as the ghosts do like it of him saying “burn them” as he had done with previous work. I like to think of them as re-themed, like this web log today.
